Royal Canoe is a deadly band armed with falsettos, guitars, effects pedals, drums, basses, tambourines, shakers and a five-keyboard super-weapon. Royal Canoe play lyrically sharp pop songs that make people dance, sing along and weep uncontrollably.

In 2009 Matt Peters (The Waking Eyes) enlisted the limitless talents of Winnipeg musicians Bucky Driedger and Matt Schellenbert (The Liptonians), Jeff Bruce (Jicah) and fellow Waking Eye, Joey Penner. The new recruits have given these songs a renewed energy, turning the album from an attic recording to a dynamic live show. In the last year the band has built a strong buzz and shared the stage with bands like The Most Serene Republic, Bend Sinister and Young Galaxy. Royal Canoe has recently joined the Head In The Sand music community, which also features The Liptonians, Flying Fox and the Hunter Gatherers, Tom Keenan, Courier News and Les Jupes.
